Is there newer firmware available for the TG-Tracker camera and OI.Track application?

Answer:
Yes, firmware update version 1.1 for the TG-Tracker camera and version 2.1 for the OI.Track application have been released. (on September 20, 2016)
Transferring 4K videos (limited to supported iOS devices) and resizing videos are supported if you update the firmware of both the TG-Tracker and OI.Track to each version. Video editing function is also added to the OI.Track.
It is recommended that you update the firmware of your camera and smartphone application to the latest version.
Refer to the following information for details of the updates:

  • You can now record 4K videos that can be transferred to iOS.

* To transfer 4K videos to the iOS, the firmware update is required for the camera and OI.Track application (to version 2.1) or OI.Share application (to version 3.0).

* Transfer of 4K videos to Android devices and some iOS devices is not supported. Refer to the following list for the supported devices:
* iOS device support list for 4K(30fps)

* To transfer 4K videos recorded before the update or to transfer to a device that is not supported, you can resize the data with OI.Track 2.1 or later version, and then transfer it.

How to update

You can download the newest firmware to your camera through the Internet using the OLYMPUS Digital Camera Updater. Refer to the following web page for more information: Firmware Update Instruction

Caution:

When you update the firmware of your camera, any recorded GPS logs or sensor logs are deleted. We recommend writing the logs to a card, and then proceeding to the update.

OI.Track smartphone application version 2.1
Revision:
  • 4K videos can now be imported.
    (You can import 4K videos recorded with the TG-Tracker version 1.1 by using supported iOS devices.
    To transfer 4K videos that are recorded before the update, you can resize the data with OI.Track, and then transfer it.)
  • Imported video files can be resized to save on your device.
    (You can transfer 4K videos to Android smartphones after the files are resized.)
  • You can now play videos on Android smartphones with sound.
  • Video editing function is added. (Trim videos, Create overlay videos)
    The edited video is saved as a new file.

How to update

You can update to the latest application in App Store (iOS) and Google Play Store (Android).

Note:

Video transfer, transfer after resizing and edit (trim and overlay) may take some time to complete

In which situation can I use the temperature indicator?

Answer:
The temperature indicator built in the TG-Tracker is for the underwater use. You can check the water temperature as a guide while shooting underwater. The temperature displaying or recording on land is possible only in LOG mode.


Question :
Can I use this camera abroad?

Answer:
The TG-Tracker is equipped with the GPS and Wi-Fi function. It depends on the country or region whether you can use the GPS and Wi-Fi function of the camera abroad. Please confirm the regulations and use the camera under the rules. Regarding the bundled USB-AC adapter (F-5AC), it can be operated within the range of 100V to 240V.

Can I use the camera in any liquid other than water? (e.g. oil or chemical liquid)

Answer:
No, it will damage the camera. Use the camera only in water.


Question :
How can I prevent condensation forming on my lens or protector?

Answer:
Sudden temperature changes may cause condensation on and inside the camera. Turn the power off and leave the camera until it is dry and ready for shooting.
The protectors may fog when water drops enter inside the lens protector or underwater protector. Gently wipe the protectors with a soft lint-free cloth.

Can I use this camera on an airplane?

Answer:
You can use this camera on an airplane, but turn off the GPS and Wi-Fi.


Question :
Can I use USB cables for smartphones to charge the battery?

Answer:
Never use any cables other than the supplied or Olympus-designated USB cable because they may damage the camera and carry a risk of fire.


Question :
Can I take or playback pictures during charging?

Answer:
Yes, you can take or playback pictures during charging by connecting the supplied USB-AC adapter (F-5AC) to the camera. However, please note that the water and shock resistance of the camera is not guaranteed because the battery / card compartment / connector cover is left open.

What is the purpose of the two bundled protectors?

Answer:
The semicircle protector LP-T01 is for taking pictures on land and the flat surface protector UP-T01 is for underwater use. To protect the lens, attach either protector that is more suited for the shooting condition.


Question :
Why can't I take pictures underwater with the lens protector LP-T01 attached?

Answer:
The semicircle protector LP-T01 works like the lens when you take pictures underwater with the LP-T01 attached. The camera cannot focus because the focal length changes.


Question :
Can I take pictures without the lens protector?

Answer:
Although you can take pictures without the lens protector, make sure to attach either one to protect the lens. If you take pictures underwater without the underwater protector, the camera cannot focus because the focal length changes.


Question :
Can I attach other brand accessories for action cameras to the mount coupling?

Answer:
You can attach commercially available accessories to the mount coupling, but these accessories have not been tested on how well they work.

What should I do when the lens (protector) is fogged up?

Answer:

How wide is the shooting range (angle of view)?

Answer:
The angle of view in the standard wide mode shooting is 204 degrees (diagonal line). In the underwater shooting mode, the angle of view is set at 156 degrees for land use, and 94 degrees for underwater use. The angle of view for movie shooting becomes narrower when the image stabilizer is set to ON (161°, 126° and 84° respectively)

What is the focus range of this camera?

Answer:
This camera is a fixed-focus model (pan focus), enabling you to shoot with wide angle of view and focus range. Focus range is from 0.2m to ∞ (infinity).

Is this camera equipped with an optical zoom?

Answer:
No, this camera is not equipped with an optical zoom.

Is the image stabilizer function available?

Answer:
In movie shooting, you can use the 5-axis electronic image stabilization. Set the electronic image stabilization (IS) in Movie menu to On. Please note that the angle of view will be reduced when the IS is set to On.

Does this camera have internal memory?

Answer:

How can I reduce distortion?

Answer:
Set the field of view to (Underwater wide-angle) or (Underwater flipped wide-angle) before shooting. Although the field of view gets smaller, the distortion will be reduced.


Question :
The image appears distorted when the subject is moving fast or when camera shake occurs. Why?

Answer:
When using a camera with a CMOS image sensor, moving objects may appear distorted due to the rolling shutter phenomenon. This is a phenomenon where distortion occurs in the filmed images when shooting a fast-moving subject or when camera shake occurs.

Can I use this camera for live streaming?

Answer:
No, this camera is not equipped with the live streaming feature.

The camera starts shooting movies when I turn on the camera. Why?

Answer:
The camera starts shooting movies when you turn on the camera in the following condition: when Quick Capture is set to On in VIDEO (Movie) shooting mode.


Question :
Can I use the chapter information that are set during movie shooting in any purpose other than viewing movies on the camera?

Answer:
No, you cannot. The chapter information can be utilized only in movie playback on the camera. (It is also usable when the camera is connected to a TV.) The chapter information is not available on the OI.Track application.


Question :
The tripod is filmed unintentionally when attached to the camera. What should I do?

Answer:
The tripod might appear in your images because this camera has a wide field of view. You may avoid this by attaching the bundled steady grip to your camera, and then attaching the tripod to the tripod socket on the bottom of the steady grip.


Question :
Can I view the route of GPS logging in OLYMPUS Viewer 3?

Answer:
Yes, you can import the GPS logging data using the OLYMPUS Viewer 3 and display the route and images on a map. While still images are placed on the map automatically, the movies should be placed manually.

How do I acquire and update the GPS assist data?

Answer:
The GPS assist data can be acquired or updated using the OI.Track (smartphone application) or OLYMPUS A-GPS Utility (computer software).

Can I record the logging data when the camera is turned off?

Answer:
No, the logging data is not recorded when the camera is turned off, regardless of the LOG setting.

Can I transfer images to my computer via Wi-Fi?

No, you cannot transfer images to your computer.

Answer:
